S.E.E. to A.C.T.

What Does it Mean?

S.E.E. to A.C.T. is an acronym for Storytelling, Empowerment and Education to preserve Autonomy, Community and Traditions.

S.E.E. to A.C.T. empowers at-risk youth in rural and under served communities through storytelling and art education and self-expression while preserving, developing, and healing communities and promoting their unique cultural heritage. Understanding leads to increased positive educational and social outcomes for young individuals.

Besides also giving voice to indigenous peoples from all over the world, we are also committed to providing a voice for native and non-native children as well as young men and women. Education and Storytelling through film results in self-empowerment for our youths. Currently we have two ongoing programs: Teach to Empower, American Voice, and our video project in Uvalde, Texas.

“Our goal in teaching filmmaking for instance, as a storytelling medium, is for young people to share their narrative through the lens of a CAMERA, not to become headlines through the barrel of a GUN. We want our youths to TELL their story, and not BE the story."

- Hayden de Maisoneuve Yates (Executive Director)
